| Jarvis Johnson: One bit of trouble out of the way |
A grand jury has declined to indict councilmember Jarvis Johnson on charges he evaded arrest during a June traffic stop, various news outlets are reporting.
A Houston police officer tried to pull Jarvis over for speeding on the Eastex Freeway; the cop claimed Jarvis refused to stop. Jarvis insisted he stopped as soon as feasible, about five blocks later, in a youth center his family runs.
The good news for the controversy-ridden Jarvis doesn’t erase the other big thing he’s facing: an investigation into whether he improperly steered city contracts to a supporter.
