Remember that great Conference-USA championship game last fall at Robertson Stadium? The one that took place under a clear, chilly sky, before a packed, raucous crowd who rocked the house as the UH Cougars rolled over Southern Miss?

Never happened. Not according to The New York Times, which after all is supposed to be the nationโ€™s paper of record.

The Times came out with its college-football previews Sunday, and UH was nowhere to be found in the round-up of likely C-USA contenders. Thatโ€™s not too surprising, seeing as the Coogs have lost QB Kevin Kolb, whoโ€™s now playing quite well for the Philadelphia Eagles.

But hereโ€™s how the C-USA story began: โ€œSouthern Mississippi (East) and Tulsa (West) look to be headed toward a rematch of last seasonโ€™s title game.โ€

Say what?

Whatever drugs we were taking that made us hallucinate that UH-Southern Miss game, we want more. โ€“ Richard Connelly
