Big month of alleged pedophiles in the Conroe school district: Weeks after Thomas Vickers was arrested for soliciting underage sex online, a middle-school teacher was nabbed for the same thing.
Michael Brian Crawley, 30, was arrested after describing in detail all the things he’d like to do with the 13-year-old girl he was conversing with via chatroom and webcam, police say.
The “girl” turned out to be a New Mexico cop.
Crawley, a math and science teacher at Peete Middle School, was arrested without incident.
We asked Conroe ISD spokesperson Katherine Clark if the two arrests will trigger any review of district policies on hiring or checking out employees. Her response:
The safety and security of students is a top priority in Conroe ISD and this
arrest serves as a reminder for the constant need by parents and educators to
keep the lines of communication open with our children and students and let
them know our expectations about internet safety and for adults to be vigilant
and monitor their internet activity especially in the social networking areas.
