A woman was stabbed to death by her son in an exclusive neighborhood near River Oaks Wednesday afternoon, Houston police say.
John Shank, 20, was arrested shortly after the incident. He is charged with killing his mother, Nancy, 52, at his family home in the 3700 block of Overbrook Lane..
According to various media reports, neighbors heard screams, got into the house and tried to persuade the son to surrender, but he took off in an SUV.
His father contacted him by phone and persuaded him to let the police arrest him.
