In a move sure to further anger the Fire Coach Fran guys, Texas A&M head coach Dennis Franchione admitted to a secret newsletter sent to select people offering information on his team and players that he willingly withheld from the public.
"I knew it was probably going to be controversial," he said, but that didn't stop Franchione from offering a secret e-mail newsletter to a dozen subscribers, at a cost of $1200 a year, for the past three years. The newsletter discussed player injuries -- info which Franchione would withhold from the public and the media -- and he also offered critical assessments of his players. The proceeds from the newsletter were used to offset the cost of his Web site.
