As more than 30,000 high school youth from across the nation gathered for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s conference, a select few chose to spend their time protesting the ongoing separation of families under current immigration policies. The kids, primarily from Chicago, led protests and chants outside of the NRG Center and were met with enthusiastic honks from passing cars. (Photos by Mohammad Mia)
