You think you know Dracula? Think again. In Texas Repertory Theatreโs new production, the king of vampires is equal parts horror and humor, suspense and seduction. โWhat [playwright] Stephen Dietz has done is to go back to the way the book was written,โ says Steven Fenley, the playโs director. โIf you read Bram Stokerโs novel, itโs all told in journal entries and news reports and little pieces, and youโre asked to put the story together in your mind; and Dietz has really captured that. Thereโs something thatโs pure evil about [Dracula], and then thereโs something thatโs a little sad about him. Itโs a monster of a play.โ
See Dracula at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 7 p.m. Thursdays, and 3 p.m. Sundays. 14243 Stuebner Airline Road. Through November 11. For tickets and information, call 281-583-7573 or visit www.texreptheatre.org. $20 to $40. – Olivia Flores Alvarez
