Rumors were swirling this morning that Sarah Tressler, the former Houston Chronicle society reporter who semi-publicly blogged about her stripper life, had gotten a gig with Good Morning America, the only media outlet she’s given an interview to.
We asked a GMA spokesperson about the version we heard — that Tressler had been hired as a producer — and she responded, “I highly doubt it but will ask.”
We haven’t heard back yet, but CultureMap’s society writer Shelby Hodge — who used to do at least one of the jobs Tressler had — has confirmed that the fired Chron writer is doing contract work for GMA covering the Dallas tornadoes.
“A friend, who has been in contact with Tressler, says that this contract work could possibly lead to a more permanent position with the network,” Hodge writes.
We still think Tressler ends up with a book or movie deal, or both. And more power to her. We can’t agree with the decision not to tell her straitlaced newspaper about her online life as they were considering her for that oh-so-sensitive beat, but we hope she succeeds in getting the most out of her situation.
