A 14-year-old girl was found shot to death as she was walking home early Saturday morning, police say.
Shatavia Anderson had been escorted by a friend and the friend’s relative to the corner of Greens Road and Wayforest on the north side of town; she then was headed to her apartment close by. It was between 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m., police say.
“During that walk, she was confronted by an unknown suspect who shot and robbed her,” police say. There is a wooded area in between the intersection and her apartment. HPD received a call at 9:10 Saturday morning of a female body in a field. Anderson was found dead from at least one gunshot wound.
