Carter will be closed

It was only a month ago that Houston ISD Superintendent Terry Grier brought up the issue of H.P. Carter Career Center, the school housing just 54 students that costs at least $2.86 million to run.

Well, that won’t be for a whole lot longer, apparently. One of the budget items up for review at next Monday’s afternoon board workshop asks the board for approval to close Carter.

Grier had said earlier that students at the Fifth Ward school could be easily moved to E.O. Smith or other nearby schools.
