Pretty in Pink Runners Helped Kick Breast Cancer to the Curb

Everybody was pretty in pink Saturday morning, even a few pampered pooches, when survivors, family members and friends rallied near Sam Houston Park for the 29th Annual Komen Houston Race for the Cure®.
Our secret weapon here in the Bayou City? Susan G. Komen® Houston is the only local breast cancer organization attacking the disease on all fronts: education, screening, treatment, support, advocacy and research. The organization serves men and women in Harris and six area counties, and has set a goal of reducing breast cancer deaths by 50 percent by 2026. Before the race kicked off, there was a solemn release of memorial doves, in memory of those who have succumbed to to this horrible disease that affects one in eight women.
