Best Vietnamese Restaurant: Xin Chao

Vietnamese-American chefs Christine Ha and Tony J. Nguyen are no strangers to the food scene. Ha is a MasterChef winner also known for hits like The Blind Goat; Nguyen is well-known for his game-changing work at Saigon House Midtown, and both are past finalists for the “Best Chef Texas” James Beard Award. It’s no surprise their collaborative Vietnameses eatery, Xin Chao, is a stunner. Housed in the old Beaver’s space off Decatur, it blends mind-blowingly good, locally inspired Viet fare with great cocktails and a relaxed vibe. Order the colossal post oak smoked Texas beef rib over flat noodles, slurp Viet-Cajun Gulf oysters, and don’t miss the ultra crisp lemongrass buttermilk fried chicken battered with pandan rice flakes.
