Yesterday, Katharine Shilcutt named No. 33 on her list of 100 favorite dishes in Houston, The Montrose at Amy’s Ice Cream. Commenter Gil Valasquez, for one, agreed with the choice:
Thank god someone else likes this one. I was worried about this when I ordered it, as it looked wholly strange. I figured as that I am now an EaDo resident, not Montrose, I wanted to taste what a tribute was like to my “old country” as I call it. This was handed to me, I balked a minute, but when I dug in, it was surprisingly good. Loved it.
All right, all right, maybe we’ll give this is a try – even though traditionally, non-chocolate ice cream doesn’t exist to us.
