In the parking lot of the Fiesta Mart on Fulton is Elotes la Estrella, a food cart that specializes in the Mexican street food elote – roasted corn covered with chile, mayonnaise, grated cheese, lime and salt. It is freaking fantastic. This is one of my favorite places to get elote – I order mine on the cob.
I grabbed a couple for me and a friend the other day with a couple of “Mexican style” hot dogs with chile, onions, cheese, pickled jalapenos, mayonnaise and ketchup.
On a hot day, there is nothing like some fresh elote and a Coke. For the real experience, you eat it right in the parking lot at Fiesta, getting corn and cheese all over your face.
