I truly feel sorry for those who are allergic to peanuts, since they will not get to experience the incredibly rich and sweet peanut butter pie ($3.95) at The Raven Grill [1916 Bissonnet (713)521-2027]. The dessert is so good it takes every ounce of restraint that I have not to lick the plate clean like a dog. The pie has the consistency of creamy, smooth ice cream, rather than the mousse described on the menu, probably because it is served almost freezer-cold. The flavor is also milder than you might expect from a treat with such a direct, no-nonsense name. It sits on a crunchy, thick chocolate graham-cracker crust, and if that’s not enough to satisfy the chocoholic in you, there’s even more of the dark stuff drizzled on the plate. Peanut butter and chocolate — isn’t that a perfectly balanced diet?
