Common Bond Bistro & Bakery, 21620 Kuykendahl, opened June 18 in Spring. The 4,300 square-foot store is the first full service Bistro & Bakery to blend with Common Bondโs On-The-Go concept. Serving breakfast and lunch, the counter-service restaurant has a variety of delicious pastries, from-scratch bread and tempting desserts. Breakfast is served all day with dishes like brioche french toast stuffed with lemon curd, steak & eggs, breakfast tacos and a healthy breakfast bowl filled with farro, barley, tomatoes, shallots, avocado and feta, topped with a 63-degree egg and chili crunch.

The lunch and dinner menu offers bistro plates such as lemon parmesan chicken Caesar and the Texas club, loaded with smoked turkey, applewood bacon, Swiss cheese and more. There are also soups, salads, flatbreads and hearty plates like shrimp & grits.

Skilled baristas stand ready to make guests a variety of coffee-based drinks to pair with hand-laminated croissants and freshly-baked cookies, brownies and scones. The restaurantโs pretty interior invites guests to linger over a breakfast croissant or a couple of pastel macarons. However, for orders on the go, there is a convenient drive-thru.

Lemonades and iced teas are 50 percent off from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily, plus there are daily specials. There is a kids menu and through July 31, kids eat free at the new location with a purchase of $14 or more, one childโs meal per adult purchase.

Walk-Onโs Sports Bistreaux, 9955 Barker Cypress, had its grand opening June 8 in Cypress. Located at Towne Lake, the new sports bar and restaurant is located dockside, offering views over the water from the outdoor patio and bar.

The Cypress location is operated by franchisees Brett Gunn and Mickey McKee, who were on hand for the ribbon cutting, accompanied by Walk-Onโs CEO Brandon Landry, one of the founders of the brand that has expanded to include co-owner and famed New Orleans Saints quarterback, Drew Brees, plus other partners like football players Dak Prescott and Derrick Brooks, along with college football coach Dabo Swinney.

Named ESPNโs #1 Sports Bar in America, Walk-Onโs, first founded in Baton Rouge in 2003, now has nearly 80 locations across the country. The Cypress one is unique in that it will offer not only dine-in and to-go services, but also dockside โ To Geaux car-sideโ service.
The menu features Louisiana cuisine like pepper jack boudin, crawfish etouffee and seafood po-boy, as well as burgers, wings and other sports bar things. In addition to a wide selection of beers, there are signature cocktails like the spicy mango margarita and blueberry coconut mojito.

The new location, which has 55 televisions, is also hosting a Team USA watch party June 19 for the match against Australia. There will be themed activations and giveaways between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., in partnership with Casamigos. Other Houston area locations will also be hosting watch parties. Throughout the FIFA World Cup 2026 tournament, there will be World Cup-themed food and cocktails at participating locations.

Agaโs To-Go, 102 W. Grand Parkway S., is opening a takeout and delivery store for the first time in the Indo-Pak restaurantโs 25-year history. The Katy shop will open June 24 with a grand opening planned July 2.
The original Agaโs, 11842 Wilcrest, has a huge dining room that is nearly always packed with diners munching happily on its famous goat chops or beef bihari boti. The meats at Agaโs are zabiha halal and much of the original restaurant’s menu of curries, biryanis and combos will be on the to-go menu.

Customers will be able to order online, by phone or through third-party delivery. While some commenters on social media are sad that the restaurant is to-go only, others are pumped up with excitement about the opportunity to enjoy Aga’s delicious food on the Katy side of town.

Hidden Omakase has begun a restaurant residency at Bar Moon, 1800 Post Oak Boulevard, after its temporary closure due to a car crashing into its location at 5353 W. Alabama. The May 18 accident caused extensive damage, forcing a temporary closure for the Michelin-recognized tasting concept.
Bar Moon is a luxurious cocktail lounge from The Bastion Collection, located above another of the hospitality groupโs concepts, Tavola. Executive chef at Hidden Omakase, Marcos Juarez, and his team have partnered with Bastion Events to continue the omakase seatings at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Reservations are now available.
Juarez says this path was not anticipated (obvi) but he and his team are grateful for the support of the Houston community. He added, โThis residency allows us to continue doing what we love while creating an exciting new experience alongside the team at Bastion Events. We look forward to welcoming both longtime guests and new diners throughout the summer.โ

Graze Craze Charcuterie, 1901 Kirby, opened June 8 in Pearland. The rapidly-expanding charcuterie franchise is known for both its premium catering and its grab and go grazing boxes. This new shop at Shadow Creek Center is owned and operated by sisters Marisol de la Fuente and Marlen Gonzales. The sisters come from a family of business entrepreneurs and believe in creating strong customer relationships while offering a welcoming space for clients to connect over food.
De la Fuente is a breast cancer survivor who shares her journey with others, hoping to inspire other survivors. Gonzales is an active supporter of children with disabilities and animal welfare organizations. They plan to partner with local nonprofits for cancer support, disability advocacy and community food drives.
The Graze Craze selections are created by the brandโs signature Grazologists and include curated boards and boxes with cured meats, cheeses, fruits, vegetables and crackers. There is a vegetarian option as well as a dessert board with chocolates, cookies, fruit and dips. There are gluten-free choices, too.
The shop will host a grand opening July 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with complimentary samples and refreshments.

Cowboys Red River, 7500 Bellaire, opened officially June 11. Itโs the third location for the Dallas-born dance hall and saloon, which opened in 1989 with a performance by Conway Twitty. A second location opened in San Antonio in 2003.

The new Bellaire honky-tonk boasts a 2,500 square-foot racetrack-style dance floor for two-stepping and line-dancing. And for those who donโt know how, the venue often hosts free dance lessons. The dance hall plans on bringing in major musical acts, but it also has a resident honky-tonk band, Running Behind, to play the large stage.

Over 2,000 patrons (18 and up) are expected to fill the 36,789 square-foot space. Thankfully, there are 1,700 parking spaces available. Unescorted women may valet for free. The venue also features an elevated patio, a large porte-cochere, pool tables and a mechanical bull for Bud and Sissy wannabes.
Ruchi’s Mexican Grill, 5201 Richmond, has shuttered, according to Chron.com. The dining room is bare and there is a banner out front stating that the Galleria location is closed, but that the other two Houston locations are open. There is also a Ruchi’s in Rosenberg.
Good God Nadine’s, 33 Waugh, closed May 31. The reason cited on its Instagram account was that the building in which it was located was being sold. The restaurant opened May 27, 2025 and was named Best Gulf Coast Restaurant in the Houston Press‘ Best of Houston 2025.

Hugo Ortega Day is being celebrated June 20 with $6.20 Hugoritas at all of Chef Ortega’s restaurants including Hugo’s, Caracol, Xochi, URBE and the recently-opened Zaranda. In 2017 Ortega won the James Beard Award for Best Chef: Southwest, being the first Mexican-born chef to do so. To honor his American journey and his success as one of Houston’s finest chefs, the late Sylvester Turner, the city’s mayor at the time, declared June 20 Ortega’s special day.
Last weekend, Ortega and his restaurateur wife, Tracy Vaught, traveled to Chicago as James Beard Award finalists for Outstanding Restaurateur. Though they didn’t walk away with the top honor, the duo recently saw their newest venture, Zaranda, make the Robb Report’s list of The 10 Best New Restaurants in America for 2026.
