It’s that time of year, Houston—crawfish season is back and boilin’, and there’s only one way to do it right: pinch, peel, suck, repeat! Whether you like your mudbugs drenched in Cajun spices, soaked in buttery garlic sauce, or piled high with corn and sausage, Houston’s crawfish scene is serving up the goods. Grab some napkins and a cold drink—here’s where to get your hands dirty with the best mudbugs in town this season (which can run through June, if we’re lucky).
BB’s Tex-Orleans, multiple locations
Live crawfish are back at this Tex-Orleans favorite, typically available from mid-January through early August (subject to change). Your boil experience starts with Tex-Orleans style (Cajun with a Texas twist) cooking, with next-levels extras from King crab to spicy alligator andouille sausage plus the usual suspects including corn, button mushrooms, and red potatoes. Don’t forget the melted butter and dippin’ sauce.
Boil House, 606 East 11th
Hot-boiled Louisiana crawdaddies are available alongside crabs, shrimp and more at this Heights boil house. Pop in or drive-thru to get your fix.
Caracol, 2200 Post Oak
Caracol will be hosting a crawfish boil on the patio every Saturday Brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Chef Hugo Ortega’s special mudbugs are rubbed with mojo de ajo (roasted garlic with spices and a touch of heat), priced at $24 plus tax for two pounds and $5 additional for homemade sausage, potatoes and corn.
Christian’s Tailgate, multiple locations
The fun-loving sports bar and patio is rocking crawfish on Saturdays and Sundays, inviting fans to catch all their favorite teams while chowing down on crawdads. Pair ‘em with $5 Bloody Marys or $2 Mimosas, also available every Saturday and Sunday all day.
Crawfish & Noodles, 11360 Bellaire, 2520 Airline
Live crawfish has just arrived at this Viet-Cajun hotspot. Get your mudbugs dripping in spicy garlic butter, and don’t forget the banh mi to soak up all the juices.
Crawfish Cafe, multiple locations
With outposts across greater Houston, the 13-year local favorite is rocking live crawfish boiled by the pound, a la carte or in customized combo deals with add-ins like snow crab, shrimp, shrooms, corn, potatoes, pineapple, turkey neck and more. Guests can mix and match house boil sauces including The Signature (garlic butter and kickin cajun), The Mix (garlic butter and lemon pepper), The Grail (garlic butter and Thai basil), plus classics like Texas Cajun, and more. Spice levels range from mild to the daring reaper.
Crawfish Shack, 5822 FM 2100
Over in the Crosby area, this family-owned and operated mudbug slinger prides itself on high-quality crawfish and a welcoming attitude. Get your boils straight-up or with combos rocking hot boil shrimp, snow crab, and all the proper fixin’s.
Little Woodrow’s, multiple locations
Local icehouse empire Little Woody’s is cookin’ up a good time with its annual crawfish boil across Houston locations, featuring seasoned mudbugs and ice-cold drinks in a lively atmosphere with yard games and fun. Market pricing on crawfish changes weekly and boil days vary by location.
Monkey’s Tail, 5802 Fulton
Hit the Lindale Park dive for crawfish Thursday-Sunday, boiled up from opening to 10 p.m. Current pricing is $9/lb and includes Regular Cajun and House Jalapeño, with extras like sausage, corn, mushrooms, melted butter and Monkey Sauce.
Phat Eatery, 23119 Colonial
After a hiatus in 2024, the legendary Malaysian Curry Crawfish (and crab legs) are returning to Phat Eatery, kicking off Friday, February 28 and available at the Katy location on weekends until sold out. Crawfish are $10/lb (minimum purchase of two pounds) and come piled alongside boiled corn and potatoes. Snow crab legs, tossed in the same fragrant sauce, are also on offer at $23/cluster. Folks can choose their heat level 1-5.
The Pit Room, 1201 Richmond, 10301 Katy
Crawfish boils will be going down on the patio every Thursday and Friday after 1 p.m., and every Saturday and Sunday after noon.
Ragin’ Cajun, 4302 Richmond
It’s officially Crawfish Season at Ragin’ Cajun, which is boilin’ up fresh Louisiana crawfish for the current price of $8.99 per pound. Add corn, potatoes, Cajun hard-boiled eggs, sausage links and more.
