During the BACARDÍ Holiday Coquito Competition, bartenders across the nation will serve up their twist on the classic Coquito recipe, including local favorites like 93′ Til, FAO HTX, Toasted Coconut and Verde Garden. Throughout December, each Coquito sold will support the Tales of the Cocktail Foundation Philanthropy and Development Program; and in January, the top eight bartenders from each city will battle it out in the grand finale Coquito Showdown.
On Sunday, December 29 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., guests are invited to a Sparkling Le Brunch de Funk at Brasserie 19, 1962 West Gray. The bubbly good time features Telmont champagne, specialty crafted cocktails, brunch specials by chef Michael Hoffman and dancing while DJ FX Box Olmos spins records on his classic turntable.
Mutiny Wine Room, 1124 Usener, will host its next Paella Sunday on December 29, with seatings at 1, 4 and 6:30 p.m. Hit the patio to watch Chef Eduardo Alcayaga cook his famous seasonal paella mixta for $38 per person, with an optional Spanish wine pairing for $15 by the glass and $56 by the bottle.
On Tuesday, December 31, restauranteur and chef Levi Goode’s new luxury speakeasy Sidebar, 9757 Katy Freeway, is welcoming guests to ring in the new year with elevated bites, cocktails, a sparkling midnight toast and live music. Tickets are $100 per person and additional upgraded celebration packages including bottles and caviar are available. The party goes from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
