Every Tuesday in September, Eight Row Flint Heights, 1039 Yale, will host its Cold Noodles Club, held in collaboration with local nonprofit I’ll Have What She’s Having and offering cold noodle bowls from a rotating lineup of Houston chefs. Elaine Won of Dumpling Haus kicks things off on September 1, followed by Henry Lu and Michael Ma of Jūn on September 8, Christina Ha of The Blind Goat on September 15, Vongthong on September 22 and Suu Khin of Burmese By Suu on September 29. Bowls are available from 6 p.m. until sold out, with 100 percent of proceeds benefiting preventive healthcare services for hospitality workers through IHWSH.
The former BeauSoleil team is heading to Cottonwood, 3422 North Shepherd, for The Beautiful Sun Pop-Up from 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday, September 4 and Saturday, September 5, bringing two nights of food, cocktails and community. The menu will feature Japanese A5 wagyu, lamb chops, branzino, beef bourguignon, double-cut pork chops, raw oysters, crab claws and escargot, with proceeds supporting the hospitality professionals behind the event.
Hamsa and Badolina Bakery & Cafe, 5555 Morningside, are offering Rosh Hashanah specials for preorder, with pickup September 11 and 12. Hamsa’s $140 Feast for Four includes two salatim, assorted pickles and olives, hummus, green and Israeli salads, round challah, apple honey cake and a choice of chicken thigh, sliced ribeye, baladi eggplant, grilled mushroom or Moroccan fish. Badolina is also offering round challah and apple honey cake for preorder.
Chef Aaron Bludorn will host a one-night chef collaboration dinner at Bar Bludorn, 9061 Gaylord, on Wednesday, September 16 at 6:30 p.m., alongside guest chefs Nick Wong of Agnes and Sherman and Leonard Botello IV of Truth BBQ. The dinner marks the Houston launch of C-CAP, a nonprofit that provides public high school students with culinary education, career training, apprenticeships and scholarships. Tickets ($295+) are limited.
Tickets are now on sale for the James Beard Foundation’s Taste America, returning to Houston on Thursday, November 12 at Thompson Hotel, 1717 Allen Parkway. The walk-around tasting starts at 7 p.m. with bites and drinks from more than 10 food and beverage stations, including chefs Evelyn Garcia and Henry Lu of JūN, Aaron Bludorn, Tristen Epps-Long and Suu Khin. Tickets start at $175, with Premier tickets at $225 and early entry at 6 p.m.
