Grimaldi’s Pizzeria is partnering with No Kid Hungry for its 14th annual fundraising campaign throughout September. Guests who donate in participating restaurants receive a promotional card in $5 increments, redeemable on their next visit for up to $25.
On Wednesday, September 9, Bludorn, 807 Taft, will host Seattle cocktail bar Rob Roy for It’s Disco, Baby!, a one-night cocktail collaboration from 5 to 8 p.m. The a la carte menu will feature six cocktails, including three from each bar, plus a boilermaker and bar snacks from Bludorn chef de cuisine Alexandra Peña. Reservations will be available through OpenTable.
Bourbon Heritage Month gets a hands-on spin at HiFi at The Finn, 712 Main, on Wednesday, September 9, with a cocktail class featuring Texas bourbon company Unreined. Guests will learn about different bourbon styles and make classic cocktails with guided instruction, all ingredients and tools, a welcome mini cocktail and two drinks to make and enjoy. Tickets are $30 plus taxes and fees.
On Thursday, September 10, Barbacana chef-owner Christian Hernandez and pastry chef Priscilla Treviño will present a four-course tasting menu inspired by works from artists Joan Steinman and Holly Wong, giving guests the chance to view the artwork, meet the artists and chefs, and score VIP access to Affordable Art Fair Houston. The dinner takes place at 7 p.m. at Barbacana, 907 Franklin, and tickets (expected to sell out) are $100 per person.
Chef Hugo Ortega will welcome guest chef Kaelin Ulrich of Seasons of My Heart Cooking School in Oaxaca for a special dinner at Caracol, 2200 Post Oak, on Saturday, September 12 beginning at 6:30 p.m. Menu features include aguachile de hamachi, tostada de tomates criollos and snapper with mole manchamanteles, followed by barbacoa de Zaachila and Oaxacan chocolate nicuatole. Tickets are $150 per person plus tax and gratuity.
Brennan’s, 3300 Smith, will begin showing Texans games at its Courtyard Bar on Sunday, September 13, with game-day food including brisket sliders, a full-tilt hot dog, shrimp po’boys, lobster-geaux and caviar beignets. Happy hour runs from 2 to 6 p.m. with $8 cocktails and wines by the glass, $5 beers and bar bites under $10. Walk-ins are welcome.
Aperitivo, 2940 Riverby, will host an Italian Bounty Long Table Feast on Sunday, September 13, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The $70 prix fixe dinner includes shared antipasti, table-side pasta tossed in a Parmesan wheel, grilled steak and shrimp, sides and table-side tiramisu, plus a complimentary glass of Prosecco.
