Latin Restaurant Weeks

Back for its 8th year, Latin Restaurant Weeks returns with participating restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops and bars offering special dishes and deals through September 25. This year’s lineup includes newcomers such as Yuma, Casa Ema and Exilio Latin Flair alongside returning spots including The Original Ninfa’s, La Fisheria and Latin Bites. Oktoberfest at Saint Arnold Brewing Company

Saint A’s annual Oktoberfest kicks off this weekend, starting with a special beer tapping live music from The Leidenhosen Junkies on Friday, followed by more music and a vendor market Saturday, plus a German-heavy menu featuring things like bratwurst, Bavarian pork shank and chicken schnitzel, available daily through November 3.
Brew at the Zoo at Houston Zoo
Friday, 6:30 to 10:30 p.m.

Folks can sample beers from local and regional breweries while exploring the zoo after hours at the annual Brew at the Zoo. The evening also features live music, food trucks and animal encounters. Tickets are $54.95 with beer samples ($39.95 event only) and guests must be 21 and up.
Houston Wine Festival at Houston Railhouse
Saturday, noon to 8 p.m.

Taste 40-plus wines from Texas wineries and vendors at this indoor festival, with a souvenir glass and tasting notes sheet included with admission. Live music and food vendors will be on hand, and there’s no limit on wine samples once you’ve completed your tasting flight. Tickets start at $22.
Houston BBQ Throwdown at Saint Arnold Brewing Company
Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m.

Houston barbecue joints go head-to-head at the 10th annual Houston BBQ Throwdown, with 14 competitors each serving a dish representing Houston-style barbecue. General admission is $75 and includes unlimited samples from all 14 competitors plus Saint Arnold beer; VIP tickets are $130 and include access to the private Investor’s Pub. Guests can also vote for the People’s Choice winner.
