Each year, the Sandra Organ Dance Company celebrates Black History Month with a performance featuring tales of both hardship and inspiration. This year, the program, called Seen and Unseen, will include a new piece, Invisible No More, which celebrates President Obamas recent inauguration and draws on Ralph Ellisons classic novel Invisible Man. The program also contains a dance based on the biography of Frederick Douglass, covering both his childhood as a slave and his adulthood as a reformer, set to music that alludes to both folk songs and hollering work calls. Organ, who tries to mix up the music as much as the motion, will also reprise 1998s All That You Have Is Your Soul, set to the music of Tracy Chapman. 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Through February 21. Barnevelder Movement/Arts Complex, 2201 Preston. For information, call 713-529-1819 or visit www.organdance.org. $12 to $15.
