White Linen Night

Web exclusive!

Barely four years old, White Linen Night is already double its original size. More than 30,000 visitors are expected for today’s street fair/art show/outdoor concert. “This year there are around 100 businesses participating, and we’ve added an entertainment stage,” says Karen Mann, one of the organizers. Two pre-parties and an after-party are also new on the schedule. (Participating businesses, including shops, galleries and restaurants, will have a white linen banner hanging out front so you’ll know who’s part of the festival.) More participants mean visitors will have more ground to cover (boundaries are 19th Street, Studewood, Yale and Washington Avenue), so free shuttles and pedicabs will be available. But Mann has some practical advice to make getting around as easy as possible. “Look at the map on the Web site. You can see all the participants and all the locations. Pick one that you’d like to park near, then jump on a shuttle when you’re done there.” White Linen Night is from 6 to 10 p.m. For a map and information, visit www.whitelinennightheights.com. Free.
