Tony Gutierrez is entering the third stage of his life. He started out as a flight attendant, then moved to Houston eight years ago and opened Crew Staffing, which supplies employees to the hospitality industry for private parties and social gatherings. Now he has opened The Chelsea Grill (4621 Montrose, 713-942-9857) in the space that most recently housed the restaurant DNR.

"I've worked in the restaurant industry for a long time and have always wanted to open my own place," said Tony. "It's a casual-dining place where you can come dressed up or in jeans. We're serving a new, inventive take on burgers, like our buffalo burger with balsamic red onions, grilled green tomatoes and a green chile mayo, as well as salads and pastas in a modern, upscale environment. We also have a very select wine list, consisting of 45 different wines."
Dish tried the sweet potato wontons, a very innovative appetizer. We also tried the blue cheese ranch burger and enjoyed the hand-formed patty and the shoestring fries, which were extremely crisp until the very end. The menu, designed by Gutierrez's friend David Alvarado, the chef at Sophia's, also includes a mozzarella arugula sandwich, buffalo meatloaf and grilled salmon tacos.
