Reckless

Houston theater lovers know Philip Lehl from his astonishing work as an actor at both Stages Repertory Theatre and the Alley. Now they’ll be thrilled to know he’s co-founded a new company called Brave Dog Theatre. “Brave dogs are loyal and tenacious and if you’re going to do theater in this day and age, you need to be both,” says Lehl. With that in mind, Brave Dog’s taken on Craig Lucas’s wild comedy Reckless. According to Lehl, this is a comedy “about a woman who thinks she has it all and finds out…that she really doesn’t. A lot of it takes place at Christmas, where she finds out a lot of good things and a lot of bad things, which is true for many of us.”

Lehl doesn’t want to give anything away, but the play has a dark side that includes murder plots, psychiatrists and the playwright’s own issues having to do with being abandoned by his mother in a car when he was just an infant. Wait, Lehl did say this was a comedy, didn’t he? 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 3 p.m. Sundays. Through December 19. Wild Fish Theatre, 1703E Post Oak. For information, call 832-866-6514 or visit www.bravedogtheatre.com. $25.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: Dec. 2. Continues through Dec. 19, 2010
