Luis Alberto Dorante, 23, Bayou Body Count No. 3; Hit by Drunk 19-Year-Old Speeding in SUV on Washington Avenue, Cops Say (UPDATED)

A 19-year-old woman speeding down Washington Avenue in a Suburban killed a man and has been charged with intoxication manslaughter, Houston police say.

Luis Alberto Dorante, 23, was leaving one of the bars along the popular strip about 1:40 a.m. Saturday when he stepped out into the street in the 4100 block of Washington Avenue. He was hit by the vehicle traveling eastbound on the street

Rebecca Blair Bowman, HPD says, “was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to stop after striking Dorante. Officers located the Suburban a few blocks away and arrested Bowman without incident.”

She has been charged with accident involving injury and intoxication manslaughter.

Update: The Houston Chronicle reports that a grand jury has no-billed Bowman on the criminal counts.
