Muppets grow up and do the nasty in Robert Lopez and Jeff Marxยs inspired, Tony Award-winning musical Avenue Q. The coming-of-age comedy has a cast of puppets (and a handful of humans) who sing and frolic, but they arenยt at all kid-friendly. Theyยve got names like Lucy the Slut and The Bad Idea Bears, and they like to have sex and talk about their sexual identities. The story focuses on Princeton, a kid who just graduated college with a B.A. in English. He moves to New York City and rents a place on the only street he can afford ย Avenue Q. Then he sets about trying to figure out his purpose in this world. Along the way, he makes friends with his neighbors and we get to hear tunes like ยIf You Were Gay,ย ยEveryoneยs a Little Bit Racist,ย and ยThe Internet Is for Porn.ย Growing up can be so sweet! 8 p.m. at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, 800 Bagby.
