Two films that proved to be audience favorites during earlier screenings this summer make up the Museum of Fine Arts, Houstonยs Back by Popular Demand miniseries. The 2009 film Alamar, by director Pedro Gonzรกlez-Rubio, is the story of a boy spending the summer with his father in a small fishing town in Mexico before leaving to live with his mother in Italy. The Oscar-nominated Ajami is an ensemble piece that chronicles the intersecting stories of several members of a multiethnic neighborhood. Thereยs a poor family being targeted by a Bedouin clan; a teenager working to support his sick mother; a Palestinian man and his Jewish girlfriend who look forward to a future where the differences in their backgrounds will not be a factor in their relationship; and a Jewish policeman whose brother has gone missing. Alamar shows 7 p.m. August 6, 5 p.m. August 8 and 7 p.m. August 13. Ajami screens at 7 p.m. August 7, 1 p.m. August 8 and 5 p.m. August 12. Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, 1001 Bissonnet.
