There’s plenty to do and see at the Fiestas Patrias Celebration at the Children’s Museum of Houston. Hands-on activities include making papel picado (cut paper banners), playing Loteria (a Mexican game similar to Bingo) and crafting paper versions of the green, white and red Mexican flag. Entertainment includes a special performance by Mariachi Hermosura Juvenil (a group of talented school-age musicians), an appearance by the Ballet Folklorico Las Americas and the re-enactment of the ”grito de Dolores,” the call for Mexican independence.
