For members of Houston’s GLBT community, the decision to come out is often fraught with difficulty. But “Houston Coming Out” is here to help. “It’s tough for any person to embrace their true selves, especially when it’s been taught that it’s sinful and disgraceful to be who you are,” says Eric Skains of PRIDE Houston, which is hosting this house party, which will feature cocktails, live music and personal story sharing. “We want to offer a safe environment for everyone to express who they are.” The party is being held as an offshoot of National Coming Out Day, sure to set hinges on closet doors across the land swinging open.
