Next Wednesday (September 25), the Houston Film Critics Society is presenting a tribute to the late, great James Gandolfini at the Alamo Drafthouse Vintage Park:

In ENOUGH SAID, a divorced and single parent, Eva (Julia Louis Dreyfus) spends her days enjoying work as a masseuse but dreading her daughter’s impending departure for college. She meets Albert (Gandolfini) – a sweet, funny and like-minded man also facing an empty nest.

In IN THE LOOP, Gandolfini co-stars in the contemporary comedy classic from Armando Iannuci (VEEP, THE THICK OF IT). IN THE LOOP stars Peter Capaldi (DOCTOR WHO) as Malcom Tucker, chief spin-doctor for the British Prime Minister. With two countries on the brink of war, it is up to Tucker to navigate the murky waters of international politics and help keep America and the UK out of yet another Middle Eastern conflict.

Things get underway at 7:30. Proceeds from the screening will benefit the Houston Film Critics Society, of which yours truly is a member. But don’t let that stop you, because tickets are are a mere $10 (and can be purchased here). Hope to see you there.

Peter Vonder Haar writes movie reviews for the Houston Press and the occasional book. The first three novels in the "Clarke & Clarke Mysteries" - Lucky Town, Point Blank, and Empty Sky - are out now.
