Itย’s a disappointing moment for many a young professional when you realize that instead of college, you could have gone to circus school. Franceย’s Jean-Baptiste Andrรฉ, who appears tonight at DiverseWorks to perform ย“Comme en Plein Jourย” (ย“As in Full Dayย”), attended not one but two of the worldย’s finest circus schools, where he honed his skills as an acrobat, dancer and mime. In this solo show, he employs video art and electronic music, but his body is the centerpiece: He demonstrates a pure and joyous astonishment at what the body can make and do, while at the same time thoughtfully exploring what such metamorphosis means. His performances feel light and humorous ย— until you realize that heย’s doing an upside-down split while balancing on one arm. Then youย’re glad you stuck with that marketing degree. 8 p.m. today and tomorrow. DiverseWorks, 1117 East Freeway. For information, call 713-335-3445 or visit www.diverseworks.org. $15.
