Pedro Calderón de La Barca’s play Life Is a Dream explores the ideas of fate and destiny. The allegorical work, making its regional premiere here, is the story of King Basillo and his son Segismundo. Omens predict that Segismundo will be a horrible tyrant if he ever takes the throne, so the king imprisons him. Later the king decides to free his son and test fate, with far-reaching results.
