The Romanian shocker If I Want to Whistle, I’ll Whistle opens the Prison Reform Film Festival today. Director Florin Serban’s 2010 movie is an unsentimental dissection of juvenile delinquency with an amazingly detailed performance by high school music student George Pistereanu as hard-boiled Silviu. Other films in the series include Don’t Kill My Father and Sweethearts of the Prison Rodeo. Panel discussions follow the screenings which continue next weekend at Rice Media Center. The series benefits Pacifica-KPFT 90.1 FM, home to Ray Hill’s iconic The Prison Show. If I Want to Whistle, I’ll Whistle screens at 7 p.m. Saturday and 5 p.m. Sunday. Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, 1001 Bissonnet. For a full schedule, call 713-639-7515 or visit www.mfah.org/films. $6 to $7.
