It’s a Valentine’s Day experience that’s the opposite of eating stale chocolate: In a reprise of what the Dominic Walsh Dance Theater calls “the ultimate performing arts mash-up,” the company combines dance, opera and Baroque music to create an utterly unique production of Shakespeare’s most beloved drama, Romeo & Juliet. “For me, one art form was not enough to breathe new life into this poignant tale,” says Walsh, founder and artistic director of the company, who sets his signature contemporary dance to a new score that knits together several dozen works by Vivaldi, arranged by Mercury Baroque’s Antoine Plante. Joining the players of the Mercury Baroque is Bach Choir of Houston, making for a 30-strong ensemble of dancers, actors and opera singers, each of whom will infuse the Bard’s masterpiece with a modern energy that could sustain it another 400 years. 8 p.m. February 11 and 13, 2 p.m. February 14. Wortham Theater Center, 500 Texas. For information, call 832-251-0706 or visit www.dwdt.org. $21.75 to $75.
