Combining the cutthroat machinations of a competitive cooking event with the boozy fun of a beer festival, the second annual Saint Arnold One Pot Showdown should make everyone happy. Teams will be competing for fabulous prizes with recipes that contain beer. Fortunate ticket holders will get to sample the goods, all cooked in the parking lot in one pot per team, from 30 teams. “One of the things we want to show is that you can cook with beer, and it’s gaining more acceptance in the food world,” says Saint Arnold Brewery’s Lennie Ambrose, whose personal favorite dish from last year’s competition was a toss-up between the curry masala and the chocolate chip cookie dough balls. There won’t be any cookie dough balls at this year’s competition, though. To encourage creativity, the judges banned desserts and deep-fried dishes. 1 p.m. 2522 Fairway Park Drive. For information, call 713-686-9494 or visit www.saintarnold.com. $15.
