Saturday night, artist Carlos Hernandez unveiled brand new screenprints in his Day of the Dead Rock Stars series at Cactus Music’s Record Ranch. The sugar-skull-inspired images included dead-ified portraits of Ritchie Valens, the Big Bopper and Lubbock’s own Buddy Holly in a plane-crash triptych tribute. Los Skarnales performed. The prints and paintings will be on view through January.
