Tig Notaro likes her name, so sheยs keeping it. In one bit, the comedian talks about how she would never lend her name to a product like Jenny Craig, an illness like Lou Gehrigยs Disease or anything else. ยI wouldnยt want to be driving down the road one day and see a billboard that said, ยI did Tig Notaro for three weeks and lost 50 pounds,ยย she says.
The only thing Notaroยs name is synonymous with is comedy. Her most notable rรฉsumรฉ points include a half-hour special on Comedy Central, a guest-starring role on The Sarah Silverman Program, a spot on Jimmy Kimmel Live and a good run on NBCยs Last Comic Standing. All these opportunities make for a lot of time on the road and in hotels. Onstage, Notaro talks about one trip to a resort in New Mexico, where she had to hang the ยDo Not Disturbย sign on the door. ยOr for the Spanish speaking: ยNo moleste.ย That was kind of a creepy feeling hanging that on my door before bed,ย she says, explaining how once, after she told that joke, a guy tried to set her straight about the meaning. ยย[It] means to annoy or bother,ยย the guy told her. ยYeah, I know,ย she responded and added: ยNo moleste.ย 8:30 p.m. The Laff Stop, 526 Waugh.
