The latest installment of the Searching for Asian America film series is the documentary Transcending: The Wat Misaka Story. A chronicle of the first man of color ever to be drafted into the NBA, Transcending shows the Japanese-American Misaka facing racism and a political climate rife with anti-Japanese sentiment in the aftermath of WWII.
