Meet the Winemaker: Armenian Happy Hour at Savoir

On Friday, April 9, Savoir will host winemaker Vahe Keushguerian for a tasting of wine from Armenia. Vahe is the founder of a winery called Keush, which specializes in sparkling wine made from grapes indigenous to Armenia. Armenia is where winemaking began thousands of years ago. An incredibly mountainous country, Armenia is home to ancient varieties of grapes found nowhere else in the world. The high elevation vineyards planted in the foothills of Mount Ararat are over one hundred years old, and wine made from these unique vineyards showcases complexity, concentration and elegance. From 4:30-6:30PM, attendees will have the opportunity to meet Vahe and learn about the past, present, and future of Armenian winemaking. The $25 tasting includes four wines: one sparkling wine, one white wine, and two red wines. The wine will also be available for special retail purchase. Vahe Keushguerian is the founder of Keush, Armenia’s preeminent sparkling wine house. A full-time Armenian resident, Vahe made wine in Italy before founding Keush. His daughter, Aimee Keushguerian, also makes wine in Armenia under the label “Zulal.” $25 per person. Price includes a tasting of four different wines, one sparkling, one white, and two red wines. All wine included in this tasting is from Armenia made with indigenous grapes to Armenia. [Organizer's description]
