Summer has started for most kids in Houston, which means more time spent with family, especially when it comes to eating out.
Urbanspoon released its list of "Most Popular Family-Friendly Restaurants" and guess what? One Houston location made the list. Gina's Italian Kitchen and Pizzeria is one of 100 restaurants throughout the country featured on the list of family-friendly restaurants selected from the most positive reviews from professional food critics, Urbanspoon reviews and bloggers.
Seven other Texas restaurants made the list as well, just four entries behind Florida which had the most.
Gina's Italian Kitchen and Pizzeria has two locations in Houston. One is in Clear Lake and the other is in Friendswood. The restaurant's website also shows that another location is coming soon to Deer Park. Just about every review on the restaurant's Urbanspoon page mentions great food and great service, which have kept people coming back to the authentic Italian restaurant.
One diner review said,
"I went out to dinner with my daughter and our server was David, he was great, friendly, charming, and informative! The food was amazing, we had the Mediterranean Chicken and I had the Chicken Gianni soup and it was delicious! Definitely a great place to go for family and it had a very warming environment."
Gina's menu is filled with classic Italian dishes, from cheese ravioli to baked ziti to pizzas and calzones. Saying as how most kids like Italian food, it is no wonder the restaurant received a spot on the list for "Most Popular Family-Friendly Restaurants" in the nation.
Austin contributed four restaurants, including Franklin Barbecue, Home Slice Pizza, Hopdoddy Burger Bar and Moonshine Patio Bar & Grill. San Antonio had two entries with Chama Gaúcha Brazilian Steakhouse and Gristmill Restaurant. Dallas/Fort Worth also contributed Oliva Italian Eatery to the list.
Overall, pizza and barbecue were the most popular food categories on Urbanspoon's list of "Most Popular Family-Friendly Restaurants." Italian food covered 20 percent of the entries, pizza made up 16 percent, BBQ made up 10 percent and Mexican/Latin consisted of 10 percent of the entries on the whole list.
Now you at have at least eight guaranteed family-friendly restaurants in Texas to visit this summer.
