RIP Neil Armstrong: Songs For The First Man On The Moon

This weekend was marred by the death of the first man on the moon, Apollo astronaut Neil Armstrong, who passed away on Saturday at the age of 82. The trio of Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Buzz Aldrin made up the Apollo 11 crew that set foot on the moon on July 20, 1969.

The space race of the '60s renewed pop-culture interest in all things lunar, Martian, and space-related. Music wasn't immune to the excitement men in space brought to the world. The dreaminess and romanticism of floating among the stars lent itself to pop records, and still does to this day.

Plus, the drug scene in the '60s, built on getting high, floating, and seeing parts of our world that had never been seen made the double-speak just delicious.

In honor of Mr. Armstrong, the Apollo boys, and NASA wizards past, present and future, here are some space-y cuts for mourning the loss of an explorer who set foot where no man had never set a foot before.
