“Perplexed”

The Houston street art scene might be as hot as it’s ever been. Alex “Primo” Luster’s documentary about Houston wheat paste artists, Stick ’Em Up!, recently had its sold-out premiere at the River Oaks Theatre, and the director was profiled in the Houston Press earlier this month in a feature story by John Nova Lomax. Veteran graffiti artist GONZO247 was a producer on Luster’s film, and he’s unveiling his new show of solo work at his own Aerosol Warfare Gallery.

GONZO247 traveled to Nigeria earlier this year and street art fans are curious to see how that recent experience translates into the artist’s new work — the reception will feature a slide-show of photos from the overseas trip. The show’s title, “Perplexed,” is perhaps a riff on one of the materials GONZO247 utilizes: The work itself is being described as spray paint and mixed media on Plexiglas/plastic-acrylic canvas. It’ll be on display through the summer months. Hours by appointment only. Through August 21. Aerosol Warfare Gallery, 2110 Jefferson.
