Wild Men of Rock

It's a good thing the Continental Club stage is carpeted, because any one of these four "Wild Men of Rock" could produce enough sweat for someone to slip and fall and possibly break a hip. On Saturday's visiting team is Detroit player Andre Williams, who could show even Kid Rock a thing or two about being an American badass, crafting some of the slipperiest grooves in R&B history on singles like "Bacon Fat," "Jail Bait" and "Shake a Tailfeather," and some of the bluest lyrics this side of Blowfly. Standing up for Southeast Texas are master of the "Tighten Up" Archie Bell and "Treat Her Right" soothsayer Roy Head, back on the shelves with career-spanning Still Treatin' 'Em Right, which includes his 1975 country hit "The Most Wanted Woman In Town." Read more about Saturday's fourth Wild Man, Little Joe Washington, in this week's cover story, "Old School," on page 12.
