Attwater Prairie Chicken National Wildlife Refuge

National Wildlife Refuge located 30 miles west of Houston, concentrating on the restoration of the Gulf Coast Native Prairie and recovery of the endangered Attwater's Prairie Chicken. Excellent location for birding and experiencing what Houston looked like before development. Over 200 species of birds and animals either visit or call this refuge home yearly.
