Pappas Seafood

Pappas Seafood is now a mini-empire, but the Lower Shepherd location doesn't feel like part of a chain after three decades in the same location, just outside of Montrose. The seafood is obviously the draw here – some of it is fried, and other offerings are flown in fresh on a daily basis. Oysters are popular when in season, and deals on the bivalvesare hard to beat here. Though the rest of the menu isn't as cheap, Pappas retains a casual feel. If you're not feeling seafood, try the enormous Famous Greek Salad (serves at least two, with optional shrimp or crab meat) - the staff will toss it for you table-side.
