Sozo Sushi & Lounge

Sozo opened in early September of 2016 on the second level of BLVP Place, the mixed-use development at the corner of Post Oak Lane and San Felipe. Owner Bill Hou, who also owns more than a dozen locations of Shogun Japanese Grill & Sushi Bar, chose to open an upscale yet scaled-down version of his Shogun restaurants to better suit the trendy patrons of BLVD Place in the Uptown/Galleria area. The menu offers signature sushi rolls, sashimi, bento boxes and typical Japanese dishes, including teriyaki, soba noodles and tempura. The space is beautiful and a few dishes stand out, like the steak teriyaki and nabeyaki udon, but overall the menu represents a standard sushi restaurant offering of the usual suspects. Skip the signature rolls, and instead try the crispy calamari and lychee martini during happy hour.
