Good early-week show at the Mink tonight, with local power-pop wunderkinds the McKenzies, melodic indie-rockers Springfield Riots (sporting brand-new EP Say When) and visiting kindred spirits from Atlanta, the Howlies. The McKenzies were nice enough to let us post an MP3 from their self-titled EP that’s nominated for Best EP/7-inch in this year’s HPMAs.
Rocks Off chose the kicky “The Devil Loves Us” because we like the fast-paced, shiny guitars and the lyrical overtones that all is not well. (Pop music is tricky like that.) It should be well enough tonight, though – check back Wednesday morning for a review of the show.
