Annise Parker Tells You How to Get Around Houston During Spring Break

Mayor Annise Parker announced two things today: 1) Houston is a big Spring Break destination, which we admit we never really realized; and 2) She wants you to use specific routes to get to some tourist hotspots during this time.

Again, we didn’t realize there were Spring Break tourist hotspots in town, but the mayor has decreed there are, and they require traffic management.

“With the numerous attractions Houston has to offer during spring break including the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Museum District, and the Houston Zoo, we want all visitors to enjoy these attractions while having a pleasant experience with their route and parking,” Parker said.

The city said “the week of spring break typically attracts an average of 350,000 people daily,” a figure they arrived at by adding the average daily attendance at the Rodeo, the Museum District and the Texas Medical Center.

Because we all know nothing says “Spring Break” like the Texas Medical Center.

The city has some highly specific routes it thinks you should take to get around in these trying times, which they consider to be March 10 through the 18th.

And they are:
