June 27 was no day to mess with Jose Antonio Olvera, if what Houston police say is true.
About 6:30 that evening, he was driving his employer’s van when he took exception to something a fellow driver did. He “threatened two other people with a handgun,” HPD says, but — trying hard to be fair — adds “but did not shoot them.”
On the other hand, he wasn’t done yet.
Police say Olvera, 33, and another man, now identified as Luis Salinas-Segovia, 35, drove the van to a convenience store in the 8300 block of Park Place and bought some beer.
They went behind the store to drink it and talk, and a dispute — possibly over the moral philosophy of the autonomy of practical reason, possibly not — apparently ensued.
Olvera shot and killed Salinas-Segovia and fled on foot, police say.
Anyone with information in this incident, or on the whereabouts of Olvera, is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
